Racing Safety Meets Custom Innovation: Victory Seats Brings Game-Changing Solutions to the Dirt Track Scene
When it comes to racing, safety is not just a priority—it’s a necessity. For drivers who push their limits on the track, the right seat can mean the difference between walking away from a crash and facing serious injury. That’s where Victory Seats comes in, a new company founded by veteran racer and safety expert Chris Ferguson.
Chris has been in the racing industry since 2003 and has spent years in the safety sector, but in October, he launched Victory Seats to bring cutting-edge technology and unmatched safety to the market. “We wanted to create something truly advanced, something that prioritizes the driver’s safety and comfort,” Chris shared.
What Sets Victory Seats Apart?
Victory Seats are designed with one key principle: customization. Using SolidWorks software, every seat is tailored to the unique shape of the driver’s body. “No matter how good you are at metal forming, you can’t match the fit of a seat that’s custom-molded to the driver’s body,” Chris explained.
The process includes a two-part polyurethane foam insert that is poured directly into the seat while the driver is seated. This ensures that every contour—from the lumbar support to the hip area—is perfectly molded for optimal fit and safety.
The benefits of this custom approach are clear:
- Enhanced Safety: By fully supporting the driver’s body, the seat minimizes movement during crashes, reducing the risk of injury.
- Superior Comfort: The custom foam provides unmatched support, allowing drivers to focus on the race without discomfort.
- Durability: Every material used, from the aluminum to the Nomex-wrapped foam, is chosen for its strength, longevity, and safety performance.
Proven Performance
Victory Seats didn’t just design a product and call it a day. Chris and his team worked with top drivers like Carson Ferguson, Dalton Wilson, and Spencer Hughes to test and refine their designs. “We didn’t want to just tell people this is the best seat—we wanted them to feel it,” Chris said. Drivers tested the seats on a variety of tracks, including Eldora and Knoxville, and their feedback helped perfect the final product.
Innovations in Safety
One standout feature of Victory Seats is the progressive foam used in the headrest. It’s designed to absorb impacts in stages, reducing the risk of concussions and whiplash. “We’re closing the gap in head support,” Chris noted. “Less movement means less risk of injury.”
The seats also include flame-retardant Nomex fabric, the same material used in NASCAR and IndyCar. Every piece of foam is wrapped in this high-quality material to provide maximum fire protection without compromising durability.
Looking Ahead
While Victory Seats currently focuses on dirt late models and midgets, the company plans to expand into other forms of racing, including asphalt late models, Bandoleros, and even monster trucks. Although every seat is currently custom-made, Chris envisions offering off-the-shelf options in the future—without compromising on safety or fit.
“We’re committed to getting it right,” Chris emphasized. “For now, we’re ensuring that every seat we make is a home run for the driver. That’s how you build trust and a reputation in this industry.”
